I found some more pieces of machine embroidery using nappy liners tucked away in a box. These were hardly started and I should think were working samples at some stage. But seeing them afresh I am quite charmed by them and have dragged them out into the light of day with the hopes that they may be added to. And I found some gorgeous cotton lace that a friend gave me and I dyed. It has wonderful motifs which will be ideal for CQ work. And lots of other things. Many moons ago I used to make and sell bags and called my business Bags of Fun! I had a little chuckle when I saw someone else making bags and using this name. Must be a good one!

Time flies when you're having fun!
Weekends go so quickly and when I look back I wonder at how much I've achieved. Usually not as much as I'd like to. But this weekend I seem to have done a lot! The fabric is lovely and just what I want for my quilt. I did fairly plain same colour pieces for me because they are the basics and more can be added to the blocks later. Really delicious icecream colours. Not my usual style as normally I go for bold and in your face but this is a different approach. I'm going to make the quilt in one set of colours and then for working blocks to add up into another quilt I'll do in a complete contrast. This will give my students examples of the ways in which colour can alter a block beyond recognition. Well I don't think mine will be that different but you get the picture! With beginners to patchwork I find colour is the one thing that throws them...apart from curved seams! So I am going to concentrate right from the beginning in giving them hands on experience with colour so that when they come to choose the basics for their own quilts it will all fall into place and not be based on the fact that they do like blue and how about some red with it!

I love making bags but now only do it for me or as presents. I have a wonderful bag that I've just made and I didn't think I'd like it but I've used it every day since. A student gave me the pattern and its so simple but clever. I expect all my nearest and dearest will get one of these for Christmas! Oh dear talking of Christmas makes time rush by even quicker! But I've made a list of all the things to do before September 15 and I'm sticking to it!
